Time to get the Kleenex Cottonelle ultra-soft bath tissue out of the cupboard.
For all good things must come to an end. And now the Tour is over, the tears must begin.
Three weeks of two-wheeled sporting majesty reached a climax on Sunday, as 167 mentalists breezed into Paris and raced up the Champs Elysees to finish the best Tour de France in recent years. After finishing twice as a runner-up, the australian Cadel Evans finally managed to go one better. Not the most popular of winners - he's a bit of a funny one (see below) - still you can't say he didn't deserve it. The australian PM declaring a public holiday in his honour might've been stretching it a little.
Still, it was a sickass three weeks. Mark Cavendish proved he's one of the best sprinters in history by making 74 stage wins in one Tour look normal again, and i'm generally beside myself with grief as I now have no idea how to fill the empty days of my miserable life until next July rolls around once more.
Here's ITV killing it with their end of Tour montage.
