I Gotta Get To A Store

Bill Watterson was a total recluse. As well as umpteen other reasons that go over my head, he wrote Calvin & Hobbes as a vehicle to vent his anger against a capitalist world he turned his back on. But he masked it cleverly enough for these incidences to still look like stories of Calvin just goofing around being an idiot.

And he always set these tirades up with a really stupid strip to kick things off.

This is one of my all time favourites, where he tears into the suspect world of advertising. Which is confusing since i'm supposed to be studying this shit with a view to working within its clutches one day.
